You are never too young or to old to enjoy a day of riding horses. If that wears you out, you may want to visit Mustang Island State Park for the wonderful area and look out over the beautiful grounds. A day would not be complete without taking a swim at the Corpus Christi Beach. The warm sands and rippling waters coming to shore will delight everyone.
If you are a tennis fan the HEB Tennis Center is the right place for you. Another great idea is to spend your day is at one of the various golf courses in the area. You might play a round of golf and then take a dip in the hotel pool before heading off to the museums and amusement parks. The botanical gardens are a delight for every one as well as the many parks, where you can spend the day having a picnic lunch and watch the kids play and have fun. It is also the perfect place for jogging to burn some calories. You never have to spend any money in Texas if you find the right activities to do.
Texas has also an unusual sporting event to offer. You might want to take a day to spend at the Greyhound Race Track. Yes, watch the dogs and maybe even wager a bet if you want to! It is always an enjoyable day watching these incredible dogs run their fastest around the track!
Sailboat races are also very popular on weeknights. You will have a splendid evening dining in a nice restaurant and watching the races from your table. This is probably an event where you can persuade your wife (who normally doesn't like sports) to accompany you to a sporting event.
Sport Clubs in Texas
As the people living in Texas are big sports fans there are lots of different sports clubs all around the state.
SPOKES club offers memberships to those interested in sports racing and car racing. Membership includes eligibility for all spokes racing events and entry into the Year end party. The A&M sports car club of Texas offers forum, events and schedules of various sports cars racing in the region as well as across the country.
Texas Adaptive Aquatics offers water skiing instructions for physically and mentally challenged.
Texas Sports Ranch provides visitors with challenge course programs, state-of-the-art gymnastics and cheerleading training.

Texas Association of Sports Officials includes membership information, rules, news, forms, and policies. The Texas Region of the Sports Car Club of America provides a chance to drive or participate in racing, off-road rallies, driver’s schools, and autocrosses. Texas Sports Hall of Fame is located in Waco and features exhibits on Texas athletes and sports, ranging from scholastic to professional teams.
