I like electronics and programming very much. We made a DMX-512A interface using PIC microcontrollers for our Embedded Systems class. We are currently working on an Ethernet bridge for our Advanced Embedded Systems class project. My final year project was to design a 3-D position tracking system. We were partially successful and we plan to develop it further. (screenshots here) I have most recently made an AT89C2051/4051 programmer with a serial interface. It is a really novel design which has an extremely low component count and has the most simple layout of all serial programmers for this chip. It also has a really nice looking GUI. I recently made a PC based 16-channel data logger during my summer internship. It was probably my first experience in designing a complete Hardware+Software system. I also made a microcontroller based programmable waveform generator to produce a weird waveform. What's it for? Well, to control the current of a laser beam which cools down Cesium atoms before they are tossed up like a ball in a Cesium fountain clock. You can preview the generated waveform in the GUI before the hardware is instructed to produce it. You can guess it is not actually weird, in fact it needed a lot of precise timing sensitive coding. In my school, I had made a GUI library for MS-DOS with which you could create programs which ran in graphics mode, and had mouse support, buttons and 'x' buttons in the corner. (But at that time, you already had Windows 98!). It is also listed in Programmers Heaven. I have made a website containing study resources and other useful materials for my juniors - IP University papers. I have not shown any skills of web-wizardry here, the pages are simple and clean, but my effort has gone in to typing question papers and compiling information which might be helpful to students. A simple microcontroller and LCD project - a digital speedometer. We made it for a competition, but cant say why we didn't win :-? My friend Pawan and I also made an SMPS load tester for a computer servicing company. I will put this up online pretty soon. I have made a set of OrCAD tutorials for some basic tasks we use it for. |
