In this passage the author Dennis T. Avery describes that Global Warming is not in any way a disaster. The earth is going through a warming period right now, and the greenhouse effect is only helping, not destroying the earth. He reports that in the past the raise in temperature was beneficial to humans, plants, animals, even the earth, and it will happen again. Avery states that thanks to the increase in CO2, it will help the plants flourish and grow, in which he calls “plant heaven”. This article will help me broaden my horizons on my opposing views.

Baliunas, Sallie, and James Glassman. "Global Warming Results from Natural Causes." Contemporary Issues Companion: Global Warming. Ed. Shasta Gaughen. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2005. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. UT Arlington Library, Arlington, TX. 24 Sep. 2007 <http://libproxy.uta.edu:2281/ovrc/infomark.do?&contentSet=GSRC&type=retrieve&tabID=T010&prodId=OVRC&docId=EJ3010343206&source=gale&userGroupName=txshracd2597&version=1.0>.

In this article Baliunas argues that Global Warming has nothing to do with pollution or industrialization at all. The models made for these predictions are inaccurate and overly exaggerated. Temperatures increasing are due to other variables such as magnetism of the earth and the sun’s rays. The warm weather is due to all natural causes. I can use this article to find our more about natural causes within the earth affecting the earth’s weather to find out more about my opposing views.

Gaffin, Stuart R. "Global Warming Will Cause Sea Levels to Rise." OpposingViewpoints:  Global Warming. Ed. James Haley. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2002. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. UT Arlington Library, Arlington, TX. 24 Sep. 2007 <http://libproxy.uta.edu:2281/ovrc/infomark.do?&contentSet=GSRC&type=retrieve&tabID=T010&prodId=OVRC&docId=EJ3010222219&source=gale&userGroupName=txshracd2597&version=1.0>.
(

In this article Stuart R. Gaffin concludes that the rise in temperature due to Global Warming will cause the rise in sea levels. Because a vast majority of people live on the coastline which is the bases of civilization, this could effect many lives and become a huge problem. The rise in temperature is just the initiation of many other natural disasters to come. He believes that floods, hurricanes, and numerous deaths will occur due to the effects of Global Warming. I can use this article to support my exigence.

"Global Warming Is a Serious Threat." Opposing Viewpoints Digests: The Environment. Ed. Scott Barbour. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2000. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. This article expresses the seriousness of Global Warming. Global Warming is caused by the continuous secretion of CO2 emitted into the earth causing a “greenhouse effect”. Due to the trapped gas in the worlds’ atmosphere, temperature will rise increasing the chances of natural disasters. This article basically talks about how the destruction of the earth is caused by the needs of human industrialization. He tells the audience all of the negative effects that would happen due to the warming of the earth. I will use this article to strengthen my position.

Patz, Jonathan A, and R. Sari Kovats. "Global Warming Caused by Air Pollution Will Harm Human Health." At Issue: Is Air Pollution a Serious Threat to Health?. Ed. Andrea C. Nakaya. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2005. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. UT Arlington Library, Arlington, TX. 20 Sep. 2007 <http://libproxy.uta.edu:2281/ovrc/infomark.do?&contentSet=GSRC&type=retrieve&tabID=T010&prodId=OVRC&docId=EJ3010336206&source=gale&userGroupName=txshracd2597&version=1.0>.
(

According to Jonathan A. Patz, wealthy industrializing nations are causing damages to the earth’s temperature. Although, the wealthy nations are the cause for Global Warming, the poor nations are the ones that are greatly affected, which is most of the population on earth. The rise in the climate will result in devastation towards human health and our well-being. With the rise in temperature, the sea levels and rainfall will increase, also increasing the spread of famine and disease. I will use this article to improve my point.

Singer, S. Fred. "Global Warming Is Not a Serious Environmental Threat." Opposing Viewpoints: The Environment. Ed. William Dudley. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2001. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. UT Arlington Library, Arlington, TX. 20 Sep. 2007 <http://libproxy.uta.edu:2281/ovrc/infomark.do?&contentSet=GSRC&type=retrieve&tabID=T010&prodId=OVRC&docId=EJ3010132216&source=gale&userGroupName=txshracd2597&version=1.0>.
(

In this article, Dr. Singer expresses his viewpoints on Global Warming. He agrees that Global Warming is happening and could be partially due to the excessive emission of
CO2.  What he doesn’t agree with is the fact that the industry’s emission of CO2 has any
significant input in the effects of the temperature raising. Human’s industrialization has a
very small percentage in the earth’s weather. I can use this article to argue against my
position.

Watson, Robert T. "Human Activity Causes Global Warming." Opposing Viewpoints: Global Warming. Ed. James Haley. San Diego: Greenhaven Press, 2002. Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center. Thomson Gale. UT Arlington Library, Arlington, TX. 20 Sep. 2007 <http://libproxy.uta.edu:2281/ovrc/infomark.do?&contentSet=GSRC&type=retrieve&tabID=T010&prodId=OVRC&docId=EJ3010222211&source=gale&userGroupName=txshracd2597&version=1.0>.
(

In this article Robert T. Watson presents evidence of human activities damaging the earth. He reports that the temperature has rapidly increased faster in the last decade than it did in the last couple of thousand of years. This happened due to varies things done by humans in order to better their economy. At the rate that the temperature is raising, we could be looking at the end of the world. This article helps provide the statistical facts that I need to reinforce my argument.
